Henry Bylinowski

Welcome to the BeeHive! My name is Henry Bylinowski, and I am a freshman at Auburn University majoring in chemical engineering and physics. I am a member of the American Chemical Society, Society of Physics Students, Astronomical Society, and Quiz Bowl at Auburn University. I was previously a local freelance ACT tutor for a year before I decided to create the BeeHive and expand my services. Throughout high school, I often held group study sessions with my peers covering nearly all subjects. In all of these academic endeavors, I have found only one thing in common: students cannot entirely and adequately learn everything they need to know if the teacher does not make an effort to accommodate each student’s individual needs. Even though it slows down the learning process in the short term, taking the time to ensure that the student understands a concept the first time will speed up and solidify long-term learning. This is the founding principle of our services.

My Tutoring Experience

I began tutoring for the ACT in my junior year of high school. I first took on a couple of friends as students about a month before the mandatory testing date in March, with my main goal being to raise their scores so they would be able to attend Auburn with me. We met up once or twice a week for four weeks, depending on our respective schedules, and we worked on every subject until they were confident in their ability to perform well on the real test. Each of my friends raised their scores, and two of them even scored above a 32, earning them a presidential scholarship. Following my junior year, I decided to try my hand at independent tutoring for a couple of classmates, and we held sessions once a week for ten weeks in the fall. I ended up becoming close friends with them as our sessions continued, and I asked them for feedback about my teaching style. What I learned from them is that they valued my choice to spend time with each of them individually, even in a group setting, to teach them in a way that they personally understood. This is the most valuable thing that I have gained from tutoring my friends—real, unfiltered feedback that helped shape how I teach today.

Awards and Accolades

These awards and experiences exposed me to many new people, and with them came many new ideas. I learned from each and every brilliant person I met through these awards, and I grew from each person’s unique ability to learn and teach.

My Mission

I want nothing more than to give your student the opportunity to excel academically. I will personally do everything I can to ensure that your student understands everything I teach, even if I have to communicate advice and lessons through text and after hours. I will make sure that your student leaves more confident and prepared for the ACT than ever before each time we meet. Although I cannot absolutely guarantee an increase in score, I can guarantee that I will put forth my best effort and all the resources I have to prepare your student for a bright academic future.
